Converse Chuck 70 Seasonal Colour High Top

A premium icon for those who appreciate details - Converse Chuck Taylor 70s

If you think that all capes are the same, the Converse Chuck Taylor 70s will prove you wrong. At Queens, we see this silhouette as the more luxurious, durable and comfortable sibling of the classic "All Stars". While the regular Converse are fine, the "70s" are shoes for people who have been around the block and can appreciate honest craftsmanship and materials that last more than one season. It's a timeless piece that makes more sense in a thirty-five wardrobe than ever before.

A story of a return to the golden age of craftsmanship

The Chuck 70 is not a novelty, but an homage to the designs of the late 1960s and early 1970s, when these shoes were at the height of their basketball career. Back then, no expense was spared on materials and the shoe had to withstand extreme stress on the backboard. Over time, manufacturing became easier, but Converse decided to return to the original specifications in 2013. The result is a silhouette that looks authentically retro but is built to standards that feel like a revelation in today's age of fast fashion.

Technology hidden in canvas and rubber

While at first glance it appears to be a simple shoe, the 70s is packed with upgrades that you'll feel the first time you put it on. The upper is made from a high-gram canvas (12oz canvas) that is much stronger and holds its shape better. But the key feature is the cushioned OrthoLite® insole, which means you can get through a full day of city traffic in these shoes without fatigue - something unthinkable with traditional thin soles. The sole is slightly taller, has a yellowish vintage feel with a lacquered finish, and the higher lining and stitching on the sides makes the shoe much more resistant to cracking in flex.

How to wear the Converse Chuck 70 today?

The magic of the "Seventies" lies in their absolute versatility. They work great in combination with quality selvedge denim, but thanks to their premium look, they also get along well with wool trousers or a casual suit. We at Queens recommend them to anyone looking for a shoe that doesn't age, but instead gains character with a slight patina. It's a choice for people who know that investing in quality pays off and that some things just don't need to be changed - just done right.
